Dogs In Art Benefit Champagne Brunch: Sunday, Feb. 10, 10am-noon
Art-loving canines and their human companions are invited to a special champagne brunch to benefit Angel On A Leash therapy dog program (a 501(c)(3) charity). The brunch will feature a private viewing of the Dogs in Art sale, complimentary auction catalogues (a $25 value), and take-home "doggie bags" for the canines in attendance. Special guests will be some of the therapy dogs and their humans that volunteer in the Angel On A Leash program. Admission is by a donation of $50 to Angel On A Leash. Reservations are required. Sporting, Purebred and Pet - 19th Century Dog Paintings: an exhibition and sale of over 30 paintings representing the range and diversity of nineteenth century animal artists and showcasing the many breeds characteristic of England, America and Europe. Among those included will be Bulldogs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Dachshunds, Dandie Dinmont Terriers, English Setters, Foxhounds, Mastiff, Pointers, Pugs, Saint Bernards, White Highland Terriers and Yorkshire Terriers. A highlight of the exhibition will be "After the Ride," a painting by the great animal painter George Earl (1824-1908). Other British works include "St. Bernards in an Alpine Landscape" by John Emms (1843-1912), "Lets Play" by Thomas Blinks (1853-1910), and "Springer Spaniels" by Arthur Wardle (1864-1949). Other works include "Their Favorite Chair" by the Belgian artist, Edmond Van Der Meulen (1841-1905), "Frisette" by French artist, Louis-Eugene Lambert (1825-1900) and "Dachshunds at Rest" by German artist, Ludwig Gustav Voltz (1825-1911), and "Pointer and English Setters in a Landscape" painted by an American artist, Edmund H. Osthaus (1853-1928).
