Previously-Announced 2009 Date Change For Westminster Rescinded By Madison Square Garden; Show To Be Held On Original Dates Of February 9-10, 2009
The previously-announced date change for the 2009 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden has been rescinded. The 2009 Show, Westminster's 133rd annual event, will be held on its original dates of Monday and Tuesday, February 9-10, 2009.
The date change had been mandated by Madison Square Garden, but Garden officials have informed the Club that the date change is no longer necessary.
For every year since 1921, with only three exceptions, Westminster has opened its show at Madison Square Garden on the second Monday in February (actually, by AKC definition, on the Monday and Tuesday following the sixth "dog show weekend" of the year).
The 2008 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will be held as scheduled on February 11-12, 2008 in Madison Square Garden in New York City.
