RETRIEVER (NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING)

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, or Toller, is the official dog of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The Toller is a medium sized, powerful, compact dog, originally bred to resemble a fox, and to attract ducks closer to the waters edge by "tolling" or luring, by its playful retrieval of sticks thrown by the hunter. The smallest of the retrievers and ideal hunting companion, they are ardent observers of life and as young dogs, full of energy. This breed has more zest and joy for life than most, and is enthusiastic and successful in hunting, conformation, obedience, agility, and search & rescue.
